We are based in Norwood, Massachusetts, which is comfortably within the Boston metropolitan area. HMF's facilities include a state-of-the-art plant, and R&D facility, as well as warehouse and Corporate functions.  We are focused on continued growth and are executing against various initiatives that include additional product lines, new sales channels, greater penetration of our extensive customer relationships, as well as opportunistic acquisitions.  Our success is directly dependent on attracting and retaining the best possible talent across our functions.  To this end, we are posting for a Warehouse Supervisor.

 

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

 

The Warehouse Supervisor will assist in administering a team of warehouse forklift operators. He/she will need to contribute to objectives for each member of their team. The warehouse team owns all product movements, raw and finished goods inventories. The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for raw material receiving procedures, and tracking of manpower and materials. He/she manages continuous improvement projects, escalation to management, and also maintains the material handling equipment. Work hours for this position are 5pm - 5am.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversees all quality and safety expectations of their area and their team
  • Interviews and recommends to management candidates for Warehouse Forklift Operator positions
  • Trains new hires and on-going staff members on the operation techniques of material handling equipment, rack slotting, sanitation, loading techniques and control of work flow.
  • Supports Warehouse Forklift Operators as needed to maintain product flow to production
  • Coordinates cooler movement of meats with planning and procurement team
  • Implements systems and procedures necessary for accurate inventories and food safety
  • Complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and guidance
  • Coordinates a lean environment and facilitates 5S expectations
  • Owns Continuous Improvement Plans for their dedicated areas of operation
  • Maintains good order & discipline. Recommends to management appropriate levels of discipline or recognition
  • Performs all other duties as directed by Site Distribution and Inventory Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years' experience in warehouse supervision
  • Familiar with warehouse documentation and processing requirements
  • Licensed to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment
  • 5 years of verifiable supervisory training & experience
  • Record of developing and implementing creative solutions for a variety of situations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Sound decision-making and analytical skills
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of ERP system processes

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with NAV or SAP ERP systems
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Experience in a food grade warehouse

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This position requires the ability to withstand working in a cold environment and standing for extended periods of time.
